The partial updo hair style is a great option for any formal occasion. Maria Menounos, see photo, is wearing a partial updo hair style that features height in the crown area, side swept bangs and layers and wavy tousled hair on the ends.
To create height in the crown area, simply take small sections of hair and back comb and then smooth over the top with your fingers. After you have done this to several sections of hair, you can pull all the hair in the crown area back into a low ponytail.

Maria looks very elegant with this hair style. For added depth, you can add some highlights around the face and sides.
Alexis Bledel, see photo below, is also wearing a romantic, soft curly updo hair style.
To create this style, you will first need to add soft waves and curls throughout the hair with either hot rollers or a curling iron.
Then pull back most of the hair into a low ponytail, leaving the ends loose and curly. Pull out some longer layers and fringe and style to the sides round the face to soften the look.
If you have naturally curly hair, you may be able to skip the curling iron by just applying a curl-enhancing hair product and blow drying with a diffuser attachment.
