Who said that a prom hair style has to be complicated?  Nicole Richie has the right idea with a simple chignon with side swept bangs and layers.  

This is a style that you could easily create on your own.  Apply a styling cream throughout damp hair and blow dry using a large round brush.

Next brush all hair back into a ponytail and twist into a chignon about mid-height.  Pin the layers into place.

Pull out a few bangs and long layers in the front and you are finished.  This style is not only elegant but also easy.  Add decorative earrings and apply your makeup well for a glamorous prom look.

Heidi Klum also has a very easy prom hair style.  She has pulled back a small section of the hair in the crown area and secured it in a low ponytail.

Several layers and side swept bangs are left out.  Highlights have been added to strips of hair in the front for a soft, feminine look.
